Value Engineering

IPS is a distinguished provider of value engineering (VE) services for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing system design. We also provide equipment installation and upgrades in facilities of all sizes and types. We serve commercial and U.S. government clients nationwide and throughout the world, relying on our experience and specialized knowledge to make the most of the project’s budget. Our VE team works closely with designers and stakeholders to ensure appropriateness and accuracy in information, which in turn helps improve the operational efficiency of the organization.

Our value engineering services identify and eliminate high cost areas in the value chain, ensuring a balance between efficient use of resources and decreased operating costs. The value engineering process divides the total project’s scope of work into components, examining each individual element for alternatives that offer benefits in engineering design, equipment and material selection, construction, operations, and maintenance. It is a structured application of proven techniques, applied during multiple phases of the project, with the primary objective being cost reduction identification.

Our approach to the VE process is as follows, regardless of the design phase:

  • Information: Gather data to better understand the project.
  • Function Analysis: Analyze the project to understand and clarify the required functions.
  • Creativity: Generate ideas on all the possible ways to accomplish the required functions.
  • Evaluation: Synthesize ideas and concepts, and select those that are feasible for development into specific value improvements.
  • Development: Select and prepare the ‘best’ alternative(s) for improving value.
  • Presentation: Present the value recommendation to the project stakeholders.
