Cleanroom Expansion

Description

IPS partnered with HDR architects to provide design for one of our semiconductor clients’ expansion project in Fremont, CA. IPS’s scope included Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) and Process Systems engineering services during construction. The project consisted of three phases:

  • 10,000 sf Class ISO 3 Cleanroom Lab expansion of usable cleanroom space capable of handling wet and dry semiconductor tools.
  • Design of Central Utility Plant to support all MEP equipment. Consists of over 40 gas cabinets, VMBs, process cooling water, capabilities, wastewater pump stations, 50k CFM scrubbers, 25 ton chillers, boilers, heaters, substations, and Kardex units.
  • Meeting with the jurisdiction to get all concerns resolved prior to design submission.

The design included:

  • Master planning, programming, and regulatory documents, specification & associated with the project.
  • Process flow diagram and general arrangement drawings for fab and utilities.
  • Scan of existing building areas, BIM LOD 400 Model, and new utilities.
  • 5% Issue for Permit MEP and process construction documents, specifications, etc. which were fully compliant with all code and jurisdictional agency requirements to obtain a building permit.

IPS provided field support for construction and as part of the submittal review, IPS reviewed shop drawings, product data or samples of materials as listed in the contract documents, but only for the purpose of determining conformance with the design concept of the work and with the contract documents.
