IPS provided construction services in a phased approach to demolish one existing boiler and install a new 3,000 MBH indoor boiler with neoprene isolation, as well as a new boiler flue to the exterior of the building.

Our work included associated balance of plant equipment and structures for process steam production. We provided procurement support for the new equipment, new hot water heat pumps, and systems pre-purchase packages. IPS also provided design support in the form of preparation of sequenced construction document packages, structural seismic design, as well as coordination for shutdown work. Modifications to associated electrical and piping systems were made, and BMS controls were implemented to accommodate the new equipment. In total, IPS issued construction services, a system startup, commissioning, and performance testing.

The new boiler now modernizes the building’s utilities facility and provides a strategic level of backup in the event of a power outage. The environmental benefits are impressive with a significant decrease in air emissions.
