Chromatograph Mass Spec R&D Laboratory

Description

IPS provided complete mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and architectural designs for a Chromatograph Mass Spec R&D Laboratory. The project included the expansion of laboratories and utilities in a cleanroom space.

This project is classified under Chemical-Terrorism Vulnerability Information (CVI) and special training was required for all team members. The project utilized 3-D software to map critical utilities, a toxic gas cabinet, Liquid N2 distribution and the supporting infrastructure equipment to serve the Chromatograph Mass Spec.

IPS modified the current utilities serving the laboratories and installed new toxic gas cabinets and modified the current LN2 distribution main lines to serve the new laboratories. The design also included consideration of EMI caused by tools to protect equipment from interference. EMI shielding, or copper sheets, were installed in the walls.
