Sidewalk Construction
Description
IPS provided design and construction services for a new ADA sidewalk on Scott Boulevard and Coronado Drive in Santa Clara, CA.
During the design, IPS identified numerous communication and high-voltage vaults as well as water services that conflicted with the proposed sidewalk. The team collaborated with the City of Santa Clara, various consultants, public agencies like AT&T, PG&E, and SVP, and Irvine Company’s project managers to accommodate the design and obtain the required approval to proceed with city permitting.
The project included the demolition of the existing pavement and structures, as well as the relocation of aboveground and underground utilities. A new 5-10 ft-wide walkway, curb/gutter, retaining wall, and ADA compliant driveway was constructed. New trenching was installed for the gas line and city water utilities. IPS coordinated tasks with multiple partners to deliver detailed plans essential to meeting the project’s schedule due to the highly active nature of the pedestrian pathway. IPS’s team of architectural engineers and project managers combined their efforts throughout the project to create a worthwhile and valuable sidewalk for the people of Santa Clara.
