Warehouse Construction
Description
This storage project includes the design-build and commissioning of a 35,000-sf leased building for the client’s cGMP warehouse, QC testing laboratories, and three walking cold storage rooms (-40C, -20C, and -5C).
IPS managed the overall programming, design, and construction of the project with the intention of lowering facility costs, improving productivity, minimizing supply costs, creating operational flow efficiencies, and reducing labor costs through automation. Key design consultants as well as the construction team developed the functional design brief and concept design for the project. State-of-the-art laboratory elements were incorporated including laboratory utilities and warehouse business support.
A 35,000-sf regional warehouse was built along with a QC testing lab for clinical testing. The lab involved works in progress, raw material laboratory space, and areas for sample receipt, visitor entry, and warehousing on the main floor. Upgrades to the building infrastructure included the installation of a new air handling unit, a high plume exhaust fan system, a lab VAV exhaust, lab waste and vent systems, an emergency power system upgrade, modification of existing process piping, and a controls upgrade.
IPS’s innovative safety processes led to zero incidents of significance on the project.
